DUBAI- Aug 11, 2014: Bahri & Mazroei Trading Company (BMTC), the trading arm of Bahri & Mazroei Group – a leading provider of solutions for building and infra-development segments in the Gulf, has installed advanced sustainable street lighting solutions worth AED 5 million in the Jumeirah Corniche development project. When fully opened in November, the Jumeirah Cornice is expected to be the longest beach in Dubai.

The Jumeirah Beach, being the social and sports hub of Dubai, is the place-to-be for both residents and visitors in the city. The first phase of the Corniche development, stretched along two kilometers, was opened to the public recently. The entire project, which is currently being developed, spans over 14 kilometers along the beachside parallel to six residential communities extending from the Dubai Marine Beach Resort and Spa up to Burj Al Arab Hotel.

BMTC installed Schréder’s state-of-the-art ModulLum LED lighting system, which has the efficiency to provide light for longer period with lesser power consumption and lower maintenance requirements than other lighting systems available in the market. Schréder is specialized in outdoor lighting solutions for public, urban and architectural projects.

The new lighting solutions, installed by BMTC, are expected to enhance the experience of visitors to the Corniche. The overall effect would be making the best of the street lighting solutions, while meeting modern standards.

Commenting on the project, Mr. Esam R. Al Mazroei- Managing Director of Bahri & Mazroei Group, said, “We are happy to implement the functional LED equipment with minimal consumption for the development of Jumeirah Corniche for the use of pedestrians. This will be the beginning of a new LED era in the city’s leisure destinations, in terms of functional use of lighting systems that meet the need for safety and respect traditional values at the same time.”

“BMTC’s street lighting system, with a smart pole integrated with multi-technological functions, will reflect Dubai’s global standing in design, innovation and creativity. Being a component of Smart City, the solution with its innovative design and incorporating power-saving technology offers an array of features including safety and security, integration of telecom and utilities, green technology, smart innovation and mobility. Improving safety is demonstrated in this huge public space with functionality and stunning visual impact, particularly for originality and the added security,” he added.

“Being a modern metropolis, Dubai is embracing green solutions by upgrading its existing lighting system by advanced LED lighting solutions for a range of infrastructure. This is aimed at significantly reducing the power consumption so that the authorities can save the annual cost of operation considerably,” Mr. Esam further said.

The Schréder’s ModulLum smart pole, a versatile and multi-purpose column offering a multi-functional lighting system along with camera, audio, Wifi, and power features, will serve the creativity of urban planning designers. The light effects can be created through the inclusion of a ring of LEDs between the modules on the ModulLum column. The sophisticated, decorative LED luminaire shows sustainable and energy-efficiency measures, while creating a sumptuous visual of the brand-new Jumeirah Beach development.

Sharing his insights on the global LED phenomenon, Mr. Esam said, “LED is the new choice that proves its commitment. LEDs, at the forefront of technological advance and with the eco-friendly ethics in mind, attract different industries with the new aesthetic possibilities as well as the opportunity to significantly reduce costs in the long run.”
